Yamakasa indicates large floats, and men carry floats on their shoulders and run through the streets. It's said that the origin of this festival is attributed to the ritual took place to stop a bad plague spread through Hakata in 1241. It's said that summer of Fukuoka-city begins with this exciting festival.
